1. Pastor Update
Namaste!

I want to share with you a passage of Scripture that God brought into our study this evening at the 'Olive Grove' prayer ministry. It's a passage that invites us to "think small" in order to "grow big."

As you have surely noticed, the Bible often invites us to do the exact opposite of what we are used to hearing from the world in order to receive the benefit that is promised. For example, 'Humble yourself in order to be exalted,' 'Lose your life so that you can find it,' etc.

Here, David shares another important truth about living the life that God has in store for us. All of God's "big dreams" for us come true, not when we "think big," but when we "think small" and simplify our life before God. It's another one of God's great parodies that does deliver!

It's found in Psalm 131. Here is the entire psalm for your meditation.

Ps 131: "My heart is not proud, O LORD, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.O Israel, put your hope in the LORD both now and forevermore."

The great blessing of a simpler life was evident in the young life of Jesus Himself.

Desire of Ages, p. 74: "His quiet and simple life, and even the silence of the Scriptures concerning His early years, teach an important lesson. The more quiet and simple the life of the child - the more free from artificial excitement, and the more in harmony with nature - the more favorable is it to physical and mental vigor and to spiritual strength."

Hoping you will bring to God - each day this week - your "stilled and quieted" soul.
