1. Pastor Update

Namaste!

Due to the death of one of our former church members in Ohio I had to fly out last week. I did a wedding and two baptisms in Salem, Oregon, and then had to fly out the next day (with my family) to Ohio to do a funeral.

We thought about just staying for the funeral (Tuesday, today) and returning the day after because of Alumni weekend. But we thank God that people came forward to help us carry on our tasks there at MBA. Leslie Schmidt was gracious enough to help me with RAK day and Kinzie and Gina are taking on a little extra in Rowena's place. It took Jon Speyer, Will Thompson, Kacie Chalker, and Janet Ketelsen to help me with my classes for the week. I thank them.

That worked out good because we found out there are some ministry needs here that God may want us to help with - apart from the funeral. So, I'm glad that we can be of use to the Lord.

Weather here was typical Ohio weather this time of year: 41 degrees!

What a blessing it was to see many of our former church members here. It felt like seeing family members again. It was also an honor to be called back for a funeral.

It reminded me of how beautiful it is to belong to the kingdom family. Especially God's kingdom of love.

I look forward to being with you all. May His love and grace follow you each day.

2. Friday Sundown Time and Sabbath Offerings

Sundown this Friday will be at 7:51 p.m.

This is alumni weekend, so the offerings are set up a little differently than usual. The Sabbath School offering will go for the MBA Church Projector/Computer Project; the church offering this will be for the MBA music department campaign, "There's a Song in My Heart." For more information on this please read the next news item.

3. "There's A Song In My Heart" - MBA Campaign

In case you haven't heard yet about MBA's latest campaign, here is a brief description of it:

"A new campaign has just begun called 'There's A Song In My Heart,' with the goal of completely refurbishing the music department. Monies raised will provide new instruments, improve acoustics and enlarge the band room, in addition to other improvements. 'These changes are going to make a world of difference for our music department,' band director Sherri Ballard said. 'This project will give our students the space and the tools they need to develop their musical gifts.'" – Shorelines, Nov./Dec. 2002
