I just wanted to share with you a few things that have been a source of joy and blessing to me this past week on our campus. Those of you who work with the students here at MBA put so much time and energy into it. But you may not always realize some of the effects that has on our students, at least, from the spiritual side of things. This week I had the opportunity of being with the boys who meet weekly to be with God in the boys' dorm. As you know Jeff T. leads this out and the group meets in his room. There were about a dozen of them snuggled together on the bed, floor, sofa, etc. by the time I walked in (a few minutes late, of course). But the minute I walked in there was this unmistakable sense of spiritual blessing in this place. I mean, here are 12 guys who are not required to be here that came together to seek God's blessing and to meditate on His word for about one and one half hours. I rejoiced as they went around the room taking turns sharing how their spiritual life is going right now, and then proceeded to discuss James 1:1-18. I was blessed again as they knelt down - arms locked - to pray to God. I wish you could be there to see how God's Spirit is germinating on this campus. I want to ask you to join me in praying and desiring for this to grow among the rest of the students and also that something similar would start in the girls' dorm as well. Several girls do show up to the Olive Grove, but I'd like to see one start in the girls' dorm by one of the girls. This week I subbed for Jon in his Sophomore religion class. Yesterday I decided to just ask each student about his or her spiritual welfare. Each of them shared with refreshing honesty (as only teenagers can do) what is happening in them spiritually. While some of it was very encouraging, I realized again that there is much work to be done here on campus. We've got a mission field of plentiful harvest. Let's pray to the Lord of the harvest to send forth reapers. This week has also been a blessing to me because of the student-led week of prayer. It is great to see glimpses of God's work in them. I just wanted to share these things with you so that you would not forget that your ministry here is meaningful and needed. Love Samuel * * * * * * * * * * * 2. Potluck This Sabbath Come to the church potluck this Sabbath! Afterward there will be an important church visioning session. An update message will be sent out Friday to give you more details on where the potluck will be, etc. * * * * * * * * * * * 3. Friday Sundown Time and Sabbath Offering Sundown this Friday will be at 8:09 p.m., and the offering this Sabbath will be for our local church budget. * * * * * * * * * * * 4. Projector Purchased Just in time for alumni weekend the church purchased a new projector and lens:
This powerful duo will easily project not only the length of the church but will also project well in Baker Chapel and in the gym for special events.
Thank you for your support! We are getting much closer to completing this important project to enhance our worship services! |
