RE: MBA Church Vision Meeting Input Request 5/17/03

We had a church visioning meeting on Sabbath May 17, 2003. If you were at the meeting and already responded to the questions you can disregard this letter or give more input. If you don't know what is
going on please read this letter and respond to the questions. Return your answers either e-mail to Marilyn at <marilyne@mbachurch.org>, snail mail or drop it in Marilyn Eggers' box at Monterey Bay Academy on or before June 02, 2003. We really would like everybody's input; please respond so our study can be complete. The Church Board will be studying the information. Then we will share the results with you along with what we will be doing with the information. If you need more room please write on the back and or add a sheet.

The church board has been discussing, the last several months, how we can make this church what God wants it to be. We would like this church to meet the needs of each member and those who attend. God has plans for us corporately as well as individually. We would like to be sure that the training, support, and tools are available so that each one who attends can use his or her gifts to the fullest. We would like our church to be a church of action and to be ready to do what God calls us to do. We would like this church to be of one accord so that each unique gift can blend in harmony to make us a mighty force for God.

Being a boarding school church has proven to be a tough situation. It is hard to come to church and focus on our relationship with God and feel that we have been blessed, when our responsibilities as school employees seem to always step in front. How can we get a balance here?

There are as many ideas out there about how the church should be operated as there are people. There are struggles between members. There are people who don't attend or find no place to be a part of this church. We would like each one to feel that they are important to the church and to each other. We would like to get to the point where instead of talking about each other we talk to each other and pray for each other. We would like to prayerfully attempt to follow Gods' directions in our church. We want church to be a meaningful experience that brings each one of us closer to God and to each other.

We do not want this church to be in unison; we want harmony. Unison is like one idea and is very limiting; I believe God wants us to be in harmony: many different ideas and views flowing together as a heavenly chorus for God.

What we would like to do here today is to get as many ideas from you as we can collect, so that the board can have as much information available to work with. Everyone's input is important; we don't want to leave any one out.

Thank you in advance for your participation in this important questionnaire.
